Live loud and vivid (Sydney Events and Tourism)

Sydney is once again hosting the biggest music and light festival in the southern hemisphere called Vivid Sydney.

Beginning May 27, the southern hemisphere will once again light up at night and the music will flow as Vivid Sydney, Australia’s grand festival of music and light, kicks off four weeks of revelry.

Billed as an annual “festival of light, music and ideas”, Vivid Australia is aimed at flooring Sydney-siders and visitors alike with sensory overload. The festival is designed to tap the city’s creative pulse and uses Sydney’s city centre as a living canvas, incorporating Macquarie Street, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour into the festivities.

Metro Apartments on Bank Place, Melbourne defy tourism slump

Located in a unique 100-year old Victorian building complete with rough hewn bluestone façade, Metro Apartments on Bank Place in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, sets a new benchmark for stylish yet affordable inner city accommodation.

According to George Bedwani, Chief Operating Officer of Metro Hospitality Group, this particular property continues to defy the economic climate, maintaining strong occupancy despite a downturn in leisure and corporate travel to Melbourne during the last financial year.

“The Apartments are very popular and enjoy significant repeat business, largely due to their central location, personalised service only a boutique hotel of this size can offer, and their competitive rates.

“Guests have the luxury of staying in a fully serviced studio or one bedroom boutique apartment in one of the city’s central and most exclusive locations, with rates starting from $125 per night for a studio room and $135 for a one bedroom apartment,” Mr Bedwani said.

Metro Inn at Edgecliff ready for a transformation

SYDNEY: A 1960s Sydney hotel building with views over Double Bay and the harbour is
about to be transformed into new apartments. This week a curtain will come down on the old
Metro Inn at Edgecliff.
Developer IPM plans to strip the building back to its structure, reworking 34 small hotel
rooms into 12 modern residences. The project, called East, fronts busy New South Head
Road, but only half the new apartments back onto the road and IPM will take steps to mitigate
the noise for the other half. IPM bought the property for $5.75 million and the reworking will
cost about $5.5 million.

Amongst the chaos is a moment of comfort (Metro Hotel on Pitt)

Over the last couple of weeks I've been on a road trip through Melbourne and now Sydney

Easter Monday I flew from Melbourne to Sydney after a crazy weekend. I was tired, hungry, had sore feet and just wanted a beer and a feed.

I caught the train to central Sydney and walked 30 minuets to the Metro Hotel on Pitt St through waves of people, traffic and brightlights.

Cruised into check in to the hotel and the lady at the counter says "Justin you're not booked in here, are you sure you booked Metro Central?". I booked Metro hotel on Pitt st. But there is 2 Metro's on Pitt st. So the lady called the other branch and sure enough I was in the wrong location.

I walked back up Pitt st, in the muggy evening with my suitcase tagging behind obediently.

Walked in to the Metro and the guy at the desk walked straight up to me (instead of waiting for me to come to the desk) and said "Hi Justin, you look buggered, here's your room card and a drink vouchure, come down for dinner and relax". He was friendly and comforting, he could see I was tired and instantly made me feel at home.

I would just like to thank the team at Metro Hotels Central and Pitt St in Sydney for your fantastic service. If its ok with you I'd like to stay again. Cheers
